Rotator cuff injury

  • Comprised of 4 muscles, including the supraspinatus and infraspinatus
  • Tendons of these muscles form rotator cuff around the humeral head
  • Tear of the rotator cuff accounts for nearly 50% of shoulder injuries (Murrell et al., 2001)
  • Rotator cuff injury can affect muscle, tendon, and cartilage
Our laboratory focuses on delivery of protein and cellular therapeutics from polymers synthesized to allow controlled release and tailed degradation properties. These materials are designed to help regeneration of orthopedic tissues, with a focus on the shoulder. Click below to see our projects in a variety of tissues that are affected in shoulder injury.
